Doug brings over 5-years of clinical experience to The Better Institute.  He is a licensed clinical social worker, certified drug and alcohol counselor (CAADC), a trauma certified Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and an Airline Transport Pilot. Doug is skilled in helping those in commercial air transportation manage work and life stress in healthy ways. Doug is also certified by the International Gambling Counselor Board (IGCC –I). He is an expert in mental health symptoms and trauma that causes undesired behaviors, often robbing people of the ability to live a full and rewarding life.

With over 13,000 hours and 30 years of experience in commercial and airline piloting as well as accident investigation, he is an expert in providing support for those currently in the aviation industry experiencing wellness issues and difficulty managing life and work stressors. Doug has completed training for pilot specific interventions outside of the FAA guidelines. 

Doug lives in the mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania where he can draw peace from the natural beauty into his clinical work.  He also continues to fly recreationally.  Doug is closely tied to his daughter-in-law and son with their young son.
