Amanda Silva, LCSW

Amanda Silva, LCSW, is a dedicated therapist with seven years of experience in the behavioral health field, committed to helping individuals build practical skills and deeper self-awareness. Holding both a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, Amanda brings a rigorous clinical background to her practice. During her graduate studies, she completed an addiction fellowship and earned a mental health certificate, solidifying her expertise in direct practice.

Throughout her career, Amanda has navigated diverse care settings—including inpatient, intensive outpatient, and outpatient environments—providing her with a comprehensive understanding of client needs across the spectrum of recovery. With five years of specialized experience in addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions, she offers a nuanced, holistic approach to treatment. She is extensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), and is currently finalizing her certification as an Internationally Certified Gambling Counselor (ICGC-I).

Rooted in a ‘Person-in-Environment’ perspective, Amanda believes that meaningful change requires understanding the complex interplay between an individual’s relationships, environment, and personal history. She partners with her clients to develop personalized, goal-oriented treatment plans that foster sustainable growth. Her aim is for every client to leave a session not only with a clearer sense of self but also with actionable skills to navigate life’s challenges more effectively. As she expands her practice with the Better Institute, Amanda remains committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based, and culturally competent care that affirms all marginalized identities, including LGBTQ+ individuals.
