What can I expect in my first session?
During your initial session your therapist/coach will complete an initial evaluation and will work with you on identifying your goals. We will provide a supportive and caring environment where you can begin to address your needs.

What makes The Better Institute unique?
The Better Institute provides multiple services all in one place (counseling, coaching, consulting). One of the things that this allows us to do is to encourage family involvement in the counseling process. Sometimes during the process of getting better, individuals may find that there are other issues that may need to be addressed (marital concerns, family issues, etc). By keeping these services in house we can more effectively provide you the services that you need.
Secondly, The Better Institute will rely on research outcomes to help us evaluate how an individual is progressing through the counseling process. It’s not ok for us to just think someone is improving. We want to see evidence and have results to back it up.
Finally, The Better Institute is dedicated to change with the times. We are in a time where technology is constantly being used to provide individuals with new ways of learning and receiving the help that they need. Gone are the days where an individual cannot receive services if they can’t make it into the office. We are one of the only places in Pittsburgh that is utilizing telehealth and progressing forward with the future of counseling.
What is teletherapy?
Teletherapy is a form of therapy that utilizes alternative methods of counseling in place of standard office visits (i.e. video sessions, telephone sessions).
What are the benefits of teletherapy?
The benefits of teletherapy include reduced travel time, easy accessibility, and convenience. In addition, it makes scheduling appointments much easier and is currently being supported by multiple insurance companies.
